MReX-ULP ULTRA LOW POWER TRANSMITTER & REPEATER
MReX-ULP OverviewThe MReX-ULP is a waterproof ultra low power radio transmitter and repeater that incorporates the MReX-460 telemetry module. The MReX-ULP is extremely well suited to be used in an exposed environment as a pest trap transmitter or general purspose sensor.
The patent pending radio receiver technology of the MReX, allows the MReX-ULP to operate as a continuously operating repeater for up to a year without batteries needing replacement. The MReX does not use Lora or Sigfox modules or technologies - we use our own type approved module that has allowed for our unmatched receiver battery life. When ordered with our custom produced solar panel, the unit can operate indefinitely in many cases. The unit reports battery state and can operate without any wiring as a repeater, or accept 2 wired inputs that can be connect to reed or microswitches on the monitored device. Once triggered, configurable periodic messages report the current input state. Setting up in the field is easy, since the unit transmissions are automatically acknowledged - installers can view a clear bright blue LED indication when testing and a transmission has been acknowledged. If the terrain is particularly severe, placement of additional repeaters is simple - just a matter of moving between the monitored point and the data uplink station, and fixing a repeater to an object like a tree or post. Units that are connected directly to monitoring points can also act as repeaters. |
MReX-ULP Applications
- Pest trap monitoring - especially useful in remote locations. Well suited for the New Zealand "Predator Free 2050" initiative, with the intention to control introduced animals (such as rats, possums and stoats) that are endangering native species.
- Farm security - use for remotely located gates or access routes. Often farms have large areas without cellular coverage - making them easy targets for thieves.
- Agriculture - simple reporting of equipment faults such as on irrigators or pumps.
- Paging system repeaters - simple to install in locations without a viable power supply or operating in exposed conditions.
- Marine and mussel farming - transmission performance over water is exceptional - ranges over 5km can be expected.
MReX-ULP Features
- IP65 Waterproof rated enclosure with antenna fitted - suitable for wet forested areas.
- Optionally sends POCSAG, DMR and proprietary data formats, giving many options over range, performance and the final intended application.
- Configured inputs can be programmed to send messages when triggered - able to be monitored directly by installers.
- Periodic transmissions of current input and battery state.
- Output power up to 20 dBm.
- Receiver sensitivity of -127 dBm.
- “Polite” operation, checking the channel is clear before transmission.
- Acknowledges transmissions - clear LED indication of transmission success.
- Very long battery life. Operates from 2 AA batteries for up to a year continuous as a repeater - much longer as a transmitter only depending on usage.
- Able to be supplied with custom solar panel, allowing for simple installation and operation without the need for battery replacement.
- Operates from 421 to 480 MHz.
- Low operating frequency and modulation provides range coverage up to 2km in bush - and greater than 15km line of sight with small elevation.
- Rapid installation.
- Affordable with volume discounts.
- Supplied with sealed antenna.
- Directly integrates with WTE IoT Gateways and WTE SWARM Satellite uplinks.
Field Proven
The MReX-ULP is currently in use in the most hostile and inaccessible areas. The first system installation for the product is on Pomona Island in New Zealand - connected to a network of monitored rat traps where is has been in use for an extended duration.
